Numerical Modelling (Finite Element 2D & 3D)
The use of empirical or simplistic analysis methods can be adequate for many projects. However, there are some projects where more complex analysis is warranted, for example where it is desirable to optimise the structural design and / or to provide a greater degree of confidence regarding impacts on adjoining property. Asset has particular expertise in this field, with numerical modelling experience gained by our Managing Director / Senior Principal Engineer over more than 25 years, completing numerous 2D and 3D finite element method analyses of shored excavations, development over rail tunnels, and development on potentially unstable slopes. For the more critical projects, field inclinometer monitoring has been carried out to verify the analysis models.
2D and 3D numerical modelling, reporting, and subsequent construction monitoring has been successfully carried out for many developments adjacent to Sydney Trains and Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) assets, with acceptance and approval from their external geotechnical reviewers.
