Settlement Predictions

All developments that interact with the ground will cause some ground movement (settlement). Excessive settlement can cause extensive damage not only to the new development but also to adjoining property. Asset routinely provides settlement predictions for shallow and deep foundations, embankment filling, shoring works etc. We use a variety of methods as appropriate to the specific problem, ranging from empirical calculations to more complex 2D and 2D Finite Element Method calculations.

Depending on the nature of the development and the sensitivity of adjoining developments, it is sometimes appropriate to monitor settlements during construction, and to advise on appropriate actions if required. Asset has carried out settlement and deflection monitoring of numerous projects involving sensitive adjoining assets such as Sydney Trains railway lines and Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) main roads.
